5 Helpful Private Practice Resources
Recently, I’ve spent a lot of time researching what it takes to start a private practice: the pros, cons, and what I need to do in order to make it happen. I’d like to share my top 5 go-to resources to date….and if you have any to add, feel free to comment!
1. SCORE
I cannot say enough about this FREE online service and the plethora of advice and tools it supplies to small business owners. They have free mentors, templates, online webinars, and seminars in your city. Honestly, if you’re like me and are just looking into the possibly of starting your own private practice, this website is a GREAT resource.
2. “The Therapy Business Blueprint: A 7-Step Approach to Starting Your Own Private Practice”
Kimberly Sena Moore’s Ebook was one of the most important purchases in my private practice venture. I would HIGHLY recommend buying it!
3. All Things Private Practice
Tamara Suttle has designed a website about starting/maintaining a private practice. The “Private Practice from the Inside Out” site is approachable, helpful, and constantly updated with new and interesting information.
4. Twitter
Don’t laugh. I joined the bandwagon late on this one, as I did not fully understand Twitter’s networking and resource potential. Now that I’ve joined, it’s almost overwhelming to see the number of bite-sized tips, links, and information that pop up on my screen…almost every second! Be picky about those you follow, though. Many get a little “Twitter happy” and talk about everything they ate, or what their dog did today…and yesterday…and last week…etc. Which is fine, but not the reason why I joined. There are plenty of small business resources, private practice experts, and fellow music therapists out there willing to share their knowledge!
5. The Small Business Administration website
This one is pretty obvious, but it still needs to be mentioned!
