Song for Valentine’s Day – “Teeny Tiny Valentine”
As the next holiday approaches, I wanted to share one of my go-to songs for Valentine’s Day. While Valentine’s Day is usually a day reserved for things like Flowers delivery by Roses Only, this song was the only thing to take my heart this time around. This is not a Rachel-original; rather, it is one of those songs piggy-backed off of a tradition song (She’ll be Coming ‘Round the Mountain) that you learn somewhere…from someone…at some point in time :). Thanks to whomever (or whatever…I’m looking at YOU, World Wide Web) shared this song with me!
With this song, I can address the concept of volume of voice (quiet, talking, yelling), as well as increasing the awareness of different sizes (small, medium, large). Additionally, I like to add movements to each verse. For example, teeny tiny voice = squat down on the floor, medium-sized = stand up, great big = stretch out arms and legs.
“Teeny Tiny Valentine”
(Tune: She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain)
I’m a teeny tiny valentine for you (repeat twice in soft voice)
I’ll be yours, will you be mine?
I’m a teeny tiny valentine for you.
I’m a medium-sized valentine for you (repeat twice in normal voice)
I’m not too big and that’s just fine.
I’m a medium-sized valentine for you.
I’m a great big valentine for you (repeat twice in loud voice)
And I will love you all the time.
I’m a great big valentine for you.
