Brianna Rzeznik
Dayna is a board certified music therapist and a native of the Austin area. After starting to play the clarinet in 6th grade, Dayna pursed a Bachelor of Arts in Music from Abilene Christian University with a Minor in Psychology. Always having an interest in using music to help others, Dayna then attended Texas Woman’s University where she completed her Master of Arts in Music (Music Therapy Emphasis). Dayna completed her internship with Seasons Hospice and Palliative Care in Houston and became board certified shortly after. As a professional, Dayna has worked with various populations such as children, teens, and adults with disabilities in individual and group settings, hospice, and memory care/older adults.
Brianna completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, from which she holds dual degrees in music and communication disorders. After UMass, Brianna taught music at Berkshire Hills Music Academy – a college-like program for adults with disabilities in South Hadley, MA – where she supported individuals in developing life, social, and vocational skills through musical engagement. This experience led Brianna to realize her passion for working in service of others, and for using music as a tool to do so. She later earned her Masters in clinical mental health counseling with a music therapy specialization from Lesley University, and moved to Austin in 2022 to pursue the music therapy work opportunities the area has to offer. Brianna has worked with elders, individuals with disabilities, children of all ages, and individuals receiving inpatient psychiatric care. Her background in mental healthcare informs her work, and she particularly enjoys facilitating therapy groups. A classically trained violist, Brianna has performed in orchestras and in chamber ensembles throughout the Northeast, but now favors playing more improvisatory styles such as bluegrass, blues, and funk.
