Free, online resources for busy therapists!

While I’m still in music therapy limbo (transitioning from being an intern to a practicing therapist), I’ve had some extra time to look at other music therapy blogs, MT research, podcasts, etc., and the number of really amazing resources available out there is phenomenal.  I think this week alone will cause me to have carpal tunnel, just from the sheer number of minutes I’ve spent clicking on one research/informative website after another.

1. Mail Chimp

For those of you who run a blog, website, private practice, or company, you can send out free newsletters directly to the inboxes of your readers!

2. Paper.li

This site compiles twitter feeds with similar tags into a clean, newspaper-style format.  Check out: http://paper.li/tag/musictherapy

3. Evernote

Ok, this one I’m really excited about.  ALTHOUGH, it would be wayyyy better if I had an iphone.  Or something other than what came “free” with my phone plan.  But, that will have to wait until I pay off my student loans!  And quit acquiring dogs! And get more work!  Until then….I know I’ll still get good use out of this application, as I have my not-as-cool-as-an-iphone-but-still-pretty-darn-handy Ipod Touch.

This website/application is basically a great organizational tool that allows you to access notes on every device you have — AND, you can share certain folders/documents with others.  It’s like GoogleDocs; however, this has audio recording capabilities, as well as tagging features.  The best thing? It’s FREE.

Paper.li and Evernote are 2 great resources that I heard on the Music Therapy Round Table Podcast (a podcast put together by a trio of passionate, intelligent music therapists)

Please share any internet resources that you find helpful for your business or personal use!

  • So glad you like the podcast Rachel!

I use Mail Chimp for my blog’s monthly newsletter (http://MusicTherapyTween.com). I think my favorite part is that whenever I send out a newsletter I get an email from saying that I’m awesome and that I deserve a raise. 🙂
